AUB-NOMINEE INDUSTRY RECEIVES ENVIRONMENT RELATED AWARD
ATHENS, Tn. — Clean Water Professionals of Kentucky and Tennessee have awarded Denso Manufacturing Athens Tennessee (DMAT) an Industrial Pretreatment Award.
Athens Utilities Board (AUB) nominated DMAT for the award.
AUB spokesman Wayne Scarbrough said the award recognizes the dedication and resources that DMAT applies in operating the plant’s onsite treatment facility, complying with pretreatment regulations, and protecting local waterways and the environment.
“Across the board, the executive team and all of the DMAT associates are a pleasure to work with. They are top-shelf professionals at every level of the organization. You see it in the physical appearance and operation of the production facilities and you experience it personally in every business interaction,” he said.
AUB’s Craig Brymer, who heads the utility’s water and wastewater divisions, said that AUB nominated DMAT for the award because of its daily commitment to wastewater treatment and the environment.
“True to their overall operations, DMAT’s environmental personnel and others responsible for their pretreatment program are experts in their fields. They do what they say they will do, and they communicate with us fully at every level,” Brymer said.
“Not only do they respond to potential issues when we raise a concern, they often call us when they have a concern so that we can approach any issue together from the start. They anticipate challenges in their everyday operations that could affect their outflow, and they consistently work to resolve the challenges working with us early,” Brymer said.
Scarbrough said that AUB is the local regulator of industries regarding compliance with a suite of regulations aimed at protecting the local environment.
“This relationship, where we are our customers’ regulator, requires trust and transparency. Without that, the relationship can become adversarial. We’ve never had the first instance of that with DMAT,” Scarbrough said.
