AUB OPEN HOUSE INCLUDES
EXHIBITS, FOOD, DOOR PRIZES

ATHENS, Tenn. - The Athens Utilities Board (AUB) will hold an open house on Thursday, October 4, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at AUB headquarters, 100 Englewood Road. The event kicks off AUB’s celebration of Public Power Week and National Natural Gas Week.

In addition to informative displays about the operations in power, natural gas, water, wastewater, and meter reading, AUB employees will be grilling and serving hamburgers, hot dogs, and all the other trappings of a picnic style meal. A door prize drawing will offer a $100.00 credit to the winner’s next AUB bill.

Much of the equipment used in AUB operations, from line trucks to meter sets, will be there for customers to see and learn about. Individual divisions will have informative displays to highlight field hardware and the inner workings of electric power, natural gas, water and wastewater. Also, a demonstration highlighting the utility’s new website will be set up in the main conference room at AUB headquarters.

AUB spokesman Wayne Scarbrough said that the open house offers every AUB customer a chance to see the operation from the inside. “Just about every AUB employee will be at the event available to talk to customers, answer questions, and generally get to know them as neighbors in our community,” he said.
