AUB POWER DIVISION WORK REQUIRES PLANNED OUTAGE IN ENGLEWOOD ON SUNDAY, MAY 10

Athens, Tn. – Athens Utilities Board (AUB) is scheduling an emergency repair in the Englewood Substation this coming Sunday May 10, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

While we have three hours planned, we believe the work will be done much more quickly.

During routine checks of the transformer our technicians saw troublesome data that we want to fully check out and take care of.  In order to do that, we’ll have to switch all feeds in Englewood from this transformer to a second transformer in the substation that is there for this type of need.

This spare transformer has been checked out fully to ensure it is ready to go, as is normally the case.  In order to cut over to the spare transformer, we unfortunately will have every customer on the Englewood substation out of power for a time on Sunday afternoon.

We realize that it is Mother’s Day and would not do this if not necessary.

AUB is trying to avoid an unscheduled outage which could result in an extensive, unplanned outage rather than the planned short timeframe.

We apologize for the inconvenience and trouble of not having power, but we need to do this to ensure that the main transformer is fully checked out before relying on it every day as we do now.

AUB is calling as many customers as possible regarding the outage.

Please plan accordingly and be prepared.  Power will go off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, and should be back up by 5 p.m. at the latest, most likely sooner.
