LOWER LOCAL POWER RATES RISE SLIGHTLY AS SUMMER RATES TAKE HOLD
ATHENS, Tenn. – Local electric power rates will rise a bit in June as the spring season moves into summer and brings somewhat higher base rates from TVA.
The AUB residential power rate for June will be $0.08958 per kilowatt hour compared to May’s rate of $0.08407.
June is a “summer rate” month with a base per kilowatt hour rate of $0.07456, whereas the past two have been transition rate months with somewhat lower base rates of $0.06917.
The fuel charge for June is $0.01502 compared with $0.01490 in May.
About 83 cents of every dollar that AUB’s power division collects goes to TVA for wholesale power.
