LOWER LOCAL POWER RATES RISE AGAIN ON SLIGHTLY HIGHER TVA FUEL CHARGE

Local electric power rates will rise a bit more in July as the summer season gets into full swing and brings higher fuel costs from TVA.

The AUB residential power rate for July will be $0.09032 per kilowatt hour compared to June’s rate of $0.08958.

This is the first time since January of this year that the rate has been a bit over nine cents for a kilowatt hour of power.

July is another “summer rate” month with a base per-kilowatt-hour rate (before TVA’s fuel cost is added) of $0.07456. The summer base rate continues through September.

The fuel charge for July is $0.01576 compared with $0.01502 in June.

About 83 cents of every dollar that AUB’s power division collects go to TVA for wholesale power.
