AUB LOBBY TO REMAIN CLOSED TO PROTECT WORKERS AND CUSTOMERS

ATHENS, Tenn. – In an effort to protect both our community’s and our employee’s health, Athens Utilities Board (AUB) is going to keep our lobby closed indefinitely to limit personal interactions as much as possible.

We have roughly 100 employees at AUB, and each plays a critical part in keeping utilities flowing into households and businesses in the area.  If we lose even a few, even for a matter of weeks, we have all lost a lot as a community.

As you’ve all seen, COVID-19 infection has risen in our state and in our area and promises to continue to do so, unfortunately, as people get more into a routine of acting normal and going about daily activities during these times.

We ask that each of you do your part to combat COVID-19.  We are trying to do our part, wearing masks and maintaining social distancing within our offices and around town, and we are hoping our people do at home, too.  We hope you will.

Our customer service representatives and our cashiers are available to complete transactions such as signing you up for new or transferred services, pay agreements, account payments, as well as other activities at our drive-through window and over the phone until we are safe to resume normal services.

During these times, just like during normal times, a customer can transact all normal business without coming into the office.  We encourage you to pay your bill and check your account activity by mail or online.  It is easy, safe, and effective.

We are asking customers to please conduct business with AUB remotely if at possible to help ensure our safety and yours and to limit the number in our drive through.

We want to keep our community safe and, most importantly, continue to offer the great service on which you depend for clean water, electricity, natural gas, and wastewater.

Undoubtedly, things have changed and will continue to do so.  Our lobby remaining closed is certainly one of these changes that we all are getting more used to and working with effectively.  Working together is the best way we know to assure the results for everyone involved.

Again, we ask that each of you do your part to combat COVID-19.
