AUB TO REPLACE WASTEWATER LINE ON CLAYTON STREET LATER THIS WEEK

Athens Utilities Board (AUB) wastewater construction crews will be working on Clayton Street between Anton Street and Tellico Avenue on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 12 and 13, to replace line associated with work they did just before Christmas.

AUB crews worked on the line in late December and replaced the collapsed portion, but there is still about 280-feet of the same line on Clayton Street that must be replaced.

Wastewater crews will replace this section of the line to its termination on Tellico Avenue.

Clayton Street should stay open most of the way, but there is the possibility of having to close a portion to safely do the work.  Workers would detour traffic to Knoxville Avenue.

One lane will be closed on Clayton Street at Tellico Avenue with flaggers working to safely direct traffic.
