ATHENS, Tenn. – A project to install electric power infrastructure for the new Collums Campus Center at Tennessee Wesleyan University downtown will require some road blocks on E. College Street and Baxter Street next week.
Athens Utilities is working with the city of Athens to close the intersection of E. College and Baxter, which is a block west of Green Street, on Tuesday, May 16, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
AUB power and construction crews will make street cuts on E. College Street that will house conduit and underground lines, relocating existing overhead infrastructure.
On Thursday, May 18, Baxter Street will be closed to through traffic from E. College Street to E. Hornsby Street, behind CVS pharmacy, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. while crews continue and wrap up this portion of power line relocation work.
AUB is coordinating with the city of Athens regarding traffic control in the construction area.
