ATHENS UTILITIES BOARD PARTNERS WITH TVA AND BVI TO SUPPORT LOCAL STUDENTS IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The Athens Utilities Board (AUB), in collaboration with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and Bicentennial Volunteers Incorporated (BVI), is proud to announce their continued investment in the future of McMinn County students through grant funding aimed at advancing education in science and technology.

This partnership has awarded grant funds to support hands-on science learning opportunities at McMinn County High School. These funds will enhance classroom experiences, spark innovation, and inspire students to explore careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

“We’re incredibly thankful for this partnership with TVA and BVI,” said Amy McDonald a spokesperson for the Athens Utilities Board. “Investing in our youth, especially in the areas of science and technology, is an investment in the future of our community.”

AUB expressed special appreciation for the dedicated teachers in the science department at McMinn County High School who took the initiative to apply for this competitive grant. Their effort ensures that local students have access to the resources they need to dream bigger and reach further in fields that continue to shape the world.

The grant is part of a larger educational initiative by TVA and BVI to support schools across the region in fostering innovative STEM programs. These opportunities not only enrich classroom instruction but also help bridge the gap between education and real-world application in science and technology.

Together, AUB, TVA, and BVI are working to equip the next generation with the tools they need to succeed—right here in McMinn County.
